Community Relations and Education Officer

Purpose
To develop and implement community engagement initiatives, educational programmes, and outreach activities to raise awareness about recycling and environmental sustainability with the aim of increasing and meeting the clients collection and recycling targets for all paper and paper packaging products under the scheme.
Minimum requirements
- Relevant Diploma or Degree
- 3-5 years experience in a similar role
- Good understanding and experience of community engagement, community participation, building positive partnerships and developing a community of recyclers
- A good understanding of the community and the facilities available e.g., community halls, clinics, schools, sporting facilities, churches, parks
- Experience of managing health and safety requirements for group activities and activations
- Knowledge of first aid.
- Ability to keep accurate and detailed records of activities.
Duties
Planning and organizing
- Develop and implement Community Engagement strategies to foster positive relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, schools, NGOs, and Government agencies.
- Draft the community engagement plan.
- Plan and coordinate educational programmes and workshops to promote recycling and sustainable waste management practices among community members, students and other target groups.
- Present the calendar of activities to the CEO for approval and sign-off.
Community engagement
- Lead cross-functional coordination of various community engagement meetings, project execution planning.
- Coordinate project execution planning with varying teams across multiple stakeholders to ensure consistency in the standards of delivery.
- Communicate progress updates, hurdles requiring attention, next steps to stakeholders from working committees to implementation teams.
Community Activations
- Implement activations as planned for the various stakeholder groups including schools, church, SSA Offices to engage grand recipients on separation at source and encourage individual action to recycle.
- Conduct Door-to-door separation at source engagements with the support of community leaders and ward councillors.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Set standards of excellence in community engagement activities and ensure quality programmes are implemented.
- Set up community feedback systems and forums.
- Create and improve support processes that enhance stakeholder experience
