Job Description

To provide 3rd and 4th level technical support to the Network infrastructure and services environment covering the LAN, WAN and DC’s from a plan, build and run perspective. This includes the provisioning and maintaining of optimal service levels on allNetwork, Firewall, ADC and optimisation equipment located in the branch office networks and related services located at Head office, Hosting Data Centres and 3rd party services and connections. Focus and responsibility will be on the ADC environment

 

Job Requirements   

·        Degree or Diploma inIT

·        Certificate in CCNAR&S

·        Certificate in CCNASecurity

·        F5 Admin

·        F5 LTM, GTM Specialist

·        F5 ASM, APM Specialist

·        Checkpoint CCSA

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

·        5 Years relevant experience

·        Implementation of security polices

·        Strong expertise in the design, implementation and support of ADC environment in a complex networking corporate environment

·        Extensive experience in F5 appliances and Viprion architecture

·        Extensive experience in F5 LTM, ASM and APM Blades

·        Extensive experience in designing a high availability and scalable F5 architecture

·        Extensive working knowledge of analytical tools like Wireshark

 

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES

·        Knowledge of network automation

·        Basic programming like python 

·        Analytical skills

·        Experience in automation like ansible

·        Must be effective in complex problem resolution falling within area of responsibility

·        To keep abreast with new and future network technologies

·        Knowledge and understanding of SDN Technologies 

·        Excellent written and verbal communications skills

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

 Network Monitoring

• Monitoring of Core infrastructure 
• Monitoring of 3rd Party services
• Relay relevant Network information in a timely and professional manner
• Alert and report on network outages
• Setup and monitor network performance

 

Network Maintenance

• Maintaining the WAN, LAN and DC’s infrastructure and relevant services
• Maintain optimal uptime levels of over 99.5%
• Assist Junior Engineers to maintain the African Bank environment
• Capacity planning
• Setup and perform network disaster recovery
• Actively pursue automation
• Compile and update documentation

 

Network Support

• Proactively handle incidents
• Handle 3rd line support for Network related incidents and request that were logged via IT Helpdesk, E-mail support or Telephonic.
• Liaise with IT Helpdesk and other IT departments
• Liaise with 3rd Party Vendors to support Network infrastructure
• Upgrade network and services hardware and software components as required
• Provide after-hours network support when required
• Actively participate in mentoring junior and learner members
• Design and provision moderate to complex networks and services
• Proactively puts procedures in place to prevent and reduce the severity of outages
• Provides on-call production support

 

Admin

• Administrative tasks such as reporting
• Fault logging and tracking
• Fault escalation
• Asset Management
• Compile and update documentation such as SOP and How to Guides
• Complete audit requirements as required by audit deadline

 

PDP

• Adhere to training and certification set out and agreed to in personal development plan.
