Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide research and strategic business support to the financial inclusion & public policy division as assigned by the head of division. The incumbent will report directly to the Head: FIPP Division.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, social science or related field, an Honours/Masters degree.
  • At least five years of relevant experience.
  • Competent in quantitative and qualitative research methods and techniques.
  • Ability to analyse data using Excel. 

Duties

Undertaking desktop research on various aspects of financial inclusion and transformation

  • Conduct desktop research regularly to source documents and reports for senior managers in the division.
  • Ensure that the latest reports and developments on various financial inclusion themes are obtained and made available timeously to senior managers in the division.
  • Conduct desktop research for other senior managers in company occasionally upon request.

Data collection

  • Develop regular data collection tools between company and members.
  • Undertake data collection assignments under supervision.
  • Perform basic data quality checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure that data is properly coded and ready for analysis.
  • Ensure regular updates of data.
  • Develop and maintain a secure data storage system for the division.

Data analysis

  • Perform data analysis using appropriate techniques and computer software.
  • Identify financial inclusion and overall industry implications from the analyses.
  • Produce reports based on the analysis for discussion within the division.
  • Present reports to division and other stakeholder forums.

Research support

  • Provide research support to different senior managers in the division.
  • Assist with procurement of service providers and contract management of research projects.
  • Provide input into research undertaken by service providers.
  • Identify and propose research topics relevant to financial inclusion or the banking industry.

Report writing

  • Produce research reports and other reports as assigned from time to time.
  • Contribute to reports on various programmes in the division.

Strategic Business Support

  • Implement the monthly and quarterly reporting with a focus on the delivery on the strategy by the division.
  • Assist the Head of FIPP in preparing both internal and external reports.
  • Liaise with the divisional PA on interdivisional administration matters.

General Administration

  • Track meeting attendance and apologies.
  • Record sessions and use the recording to produce minutes and publish the minutes as per the set process.
  • Ensure quality control on programme and project documentation to be published.
  • Collate and publish program meeting packs and documents.
  • Assist the Head of FIPP with updating the divisional action log (programmes).
  • Assist with other divisional projects as may be necessary occasionally.

Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure consistent and professional engagements with stakeholders at all times.
  • Establish and manage relationships with internal and external sources of information/industry role players to source relevant information.
  • Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external role players, e.g. research forums.
  • Build relationships with colleagues in other divisions to share information/ideas.
