Researcher

Purpose 

The candidate will be required to assist the bank in proposing decisions by researching industry and markets, building financial models, and giving investment presentations. 

He/she must use various tools to make market and financial forecasts and constantly research and update information into the company's systems. 

Minimum requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in economics, finance or a related field, an Honours / Master's degree will be an advantage. 
  • At least five years relevant experience. 
  • Competent in quantitative and qualitative research methods and techniques. 
  • Ability to analyse data using Excel and write reports. 
  • Experience in the financial sector, policy development, ability to source data sets and reports. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to engage with senior personnel in the financial sector. 
  • Strategic thinking.

Duties 

  • Undertaking desktop research on a wide range of topics 
  • Conduct desktop research collecting relevant documents from various sources. 
  • Evaluate these documents for relevance to research topic. 
  • Extract themes from documents in support of the research topic. 
  • Manage confidentiality of certain documents. 
  • Ensure documents are appropriately cited in reports. 

Data collection 

  • Collect data as required or directed.
  • Where a data set is a regular feature of the work, to ensure the data is collected timeously and appropriately stored. 
  • Where appropriate code data for further analysis. 
  • Remain informed of latest data techniques. 

 Data analysis 

  • Perform data analysis using appropriate techniques and computer software. 
  • Translate data into draft written reports. 
  • Present reports either orally or in presentations internally or to third parties. 

Report writing 

  • Contribute to research reports, working papers and other assigned tasks from time to time. 
  • Contribute to board meetings and prepare assigned board reports. 

General Administration 

  • Manage the website using WordPress – support and training will be provided. 
  • Source images, develop presentations, manage look and feel of research and web site. 
  • Record sessions and use the recording to produce minutes or notes and publish to website as appropriate.

 Stakeholder Management

  •  Ensure consistent and professional engagements with stakeholders at all times. 
  • Identify and engage with stakeholders relevant to each project.

Duration : 12 months
