Supply Chain Manager
Location: Gauteng (Pretoria West)
Role Overview
The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain for battery energy storage systems (BESS), including inverters, batteries, and containerised solutions. The role focuses on balancing cost, quality, delivery timelines, and working capital efficiency while ensuring reliable supply of critical components and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with project delivery schedules and business objectives.
- Manage procurement of electronic, electrical, and mechanical components, including PCBs, wiring, connectors, battery cells, BMS, sheet metal parts, plastic components, and related assemblies.
- Oversee sourcing and coordination of key services such as container manufacturing, cabling, HVAC (air conditioning), and fire suppression systems.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including local and international vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements to ensure cost competitiveness and supply security.
- Lead demand planning, inventory optimization, and material requirements planning (MRP) within an ERP environment.
- Monitor and manage supply chain risks, including lead times, logistics constraints, and supplier performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and production teams to align procurement with technical and project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Commerce (B.Com), specialising in Supply Chain Management,, or a related field.
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, or logistics within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proven experience sourcing electronic, electrical, and mechanical components.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., ERPNext, Syspro, or similar) and MRP planning processes.
