CHIEF DIRECTOR: PEOPLE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

POSITION OVERVIEW

An exciting senior leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Chief Director: People Management Practices to provide strategic leadership and direction in the management of human resources, organisational development and transformation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of Human Resource Management (HRM), Human Resource Development (HRD), Employee Relations (ER), Organisational Design and Development, Change Management and Transformation, while promoting a safe, secure and productive organisational environment.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction in People Management Practices.
  • Ensuring the effective provision of Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Organisational Development and Transformation services.
  • Leading and implementing change management and organisational transformation initiatives.
  • Providing strategic oversight of Employee Relations functions.
  • Leading the provision of effective communications, facilities and security management services for OPSC.
  • Ensuring effective internal and external communication services within the organisation.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable legislative, regulatory and governance frameworks relating to human resources and people management.

Promoting a culture of professionalism, service excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • An appropriate recognized Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in one of the following or a related field:
    • Public Management
    • Public Administration
    • Human Resource Management
    • Industrial Psychology
  • Nyukela Certificate for entry into the Senior Management Service (SMS) obtained from the National School of Government (NSG) is mandatory.
    • Candidates who do not currently possess the Nyukela Certificate must be willing to obtain the certificate before appointment.
  • At least 5 years’ experience at Senior Management (Director) level in Human Resource Management or Corporate Services.
  • Proven experience in Change Management and/or Organisational Transformation.
  • Proven experience in Human Resource Development (HRD).
  • Strong experience in Employee Relations (ER) and Human Resource Management (HRM).
  • Knowledge and practical experience in Organizational Design and Development.
  • Experience in Communications, Facilities Management and Security/Security Management will be an advantage.
  • A valid driver’s license (with exception of disabled applicants).
  • Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office Suite
