Fitter and Turner

Purpose

The Fitter & Turner will be responsible for general machining, fabricating of components and breakdown assistance on callouts.

Minimum requirements

• Qualified Fitter and Turner. 
• Must be willing to perform a turning, milling, and drilling test at the training centre. 
• Computer literate. 
• Be a holder of a valid first aid certificate. 
• Valid driver’s license. 
• Five years’ experience in a machining and fabrication environment, operate and setup of CNC machines, will be advantageous.

Main duties

• Working on dangerous and expensive machines. 
• Good understanding of reading and calibrating of precision measuring equipment. 
• Fabricate components on centre lathe and milling machine for breakdowns and plan maintenance tasks.  
• Setup and operate Cams Slotting NC machine and Surface grinder.  
• Marking and drilling of components on Radial drill. 
• Setup Line boring and machining of equipment on Boring mill.  
• Good understanding of sharpening of cutting tools. 
• Ensuring adherence to legal inspections on machines and equipment.  
• Uphold a high standard of housekeeping in the workshop. 
• Modifications and improvements in the area of responsibility. 
• Ensuring adherence to SHEQ standards. 
• Performing standby duties.
