Purpose

To provide an effective legal service to the company and conduct legal research. Provide legal impact analysis and advice to ensure awareness on new laws

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws Degree and an admission as an Attorney or Advocate 
  • 3 - 5 years of experience post-admission legal experience in a corporate or legal practice environment 
  • Strong litigation, research background, and sound understanding of the energy industry will be an added advantage. 

Duties 

  • Provision of labour advice:  Advise on Labour related matters.
  • Contracts management:  Drafting, reviewing, and vetting of contracts.
  • Participation in the supply chain process (bid specification and bid evaluation)
  • Litigation management: Litigation management inclusive of drafting memos on matters received in terms of the Litigation Guideline, drafting Terms of Reference, appointment, and briefing of Attorneys and/or Advocates in litigation matters, reviewing and commenting on papers drafted by our attorneys before advising the FTRM to sign any paper, attending to consultation, engaging personnel of the division involved in the matter and to monitor the processes thereto.
  • Formulation of legislation and regulations: Assist the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy with the formulation of new legislation and regulations that have an impact on the company and the Energy industry.
  • Drafting submission on the commentary on proposed legislation.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Review of existing policies for compliance with the law
  • Monitor the company policies' compliance with the laws.
  • Capacity building: Training of staff on laws applicable to the industry to ensure a high level of adherence and compliance to legal aspects related to the industry
  • Dispute Resolution:  Assist in the dispute resolution (mediation and/or arbitration) between licensees and customers and licensees themselves.
  • Provision of legal support and advice:  Provide legal support to the company’s Departments, Divisions, Committees, Subcommittees, and Energy Regulator.
  • Attend to legal matters affecting the company.
  • Provide legal opinions, commentary, and interpretation on new legislation or policy and existing legislation or policy.
  • Provide support and assistance in expropriation applications.
  • Provide support to the HOD: Legal Advisory Services.

Location: Pretoria 

Duration: 12 months contract.
