Purpose

The purpose of the Product Manager is to deliver a differentiated product to the market that addresses market needs and represents a viable business opportunity.

Minimum requirements

  • Matric with Maths & Science.
  • Proficient in MicroSoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Industry and technical product knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the market and product area.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in electrical and telecoms environment.
  • Previous experience in product management or similar role.
  • Solid technical background with hands-on experience.

Main duties

  • Gather, manage, and prioritise market / customer requirements.
  • Determine customer needs by conducting market research. 
  • Evaluate the current product range by creating a database of PRO’s vs CON’s to present to management, advising if a product should be discontinuing OR if a new product should be procured.
  • Work closely with other staff members / departments to ensure business and customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Develop the product strategy and roadmap, as per the company strategy.
  • Run a pilot program with early-stage product and samples.
  • Assess market competition by comparing products.
  • Develop a business case for new products, improvements to existing products, and business opportunities.
  • Identify positioning for the product.
  • Recommends or contributes information in setting product pricing.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements, as per the company strategy.
  • Provide product solution, bill of material and costing to assist sales in quoting.
  • Bring new products to market by analysing proposed product requirements and product development programs.
  • Introduce new product to the market by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Design layout and basic drawings for manufacturing of raw material.
  • Drive product launches.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the company to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day management.
  • Keep abreast of new products, market conditions, advertising, and promotional trends, as per the company strategy.
  • Ensure products are reputable, manageable, and warrantied.
  • Create training literature with the product owner and assist in training and installer support on installations.
  • Perform any other tasks, not specified herein, which may from time to time be requested by management.
