Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to advocate the interests of the company's members; so banks are better able to provide the financial services that support inclusive economic growth, good governance and environmental and social sustainability in South Africa.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, IT, Legal or related field.
  • 10 to 15 years of combined business and IT experience (optional), with a focus on the financial services industry.
  • Experience in private sectors is a must, and optionally in the non-profit sector.

Main duties

  • The role primarily focuses on Market Conduct and Credit Management services across the financial services industry and specifically the banking sector and will report to the Head: Market Conduct Division.
  • The Resource will be responsible for Programme Management, Business Analysis, Workshop Facilitation, Resource Management and Budget Management.
  • The Resource will interact with high-profile stakeholders, including the company Board, directors from other institutions, regulators, government departments and industry leaders.
  • Additionally, the Resource will represent the company at multiple committees, including credit industry committees and other financial services industry committees.
  • Regulatory and legal issues related to the banking sector and finance will be dealt with as part of the role.
  • The Resource will manage a team providing legal, market conduct, credit management, technical IT Project management and management information system (MIS), and project administration services.
  • The Resource will be responsible for annual budgeting for the managed programmes.
  • The Resource must also manage any resources that deliver services to the managed programmes of the company.
  • The Resource must manage external services in terms of current budgeting and aligned billing.

Key competencies

  • Proven experience in Programme Management, Business Analysis, Workshop Facilitation, and Resource Management.
  • Strong leadership skills, with hands-on experience managing teams.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including engaging high-profile stakeholders and managing their expectations.
  • Familiarity with credit management and market conduct practices in the financial services industry, including the banking sector is required.
  • Familiarity with Debt Review as per the National Credit Act would be advantageous.
  • Experience representing organizations in committees and industry-related events.
  • Experience in managing committees at various levels and ensuring that all levels of committees are engaged at the necessary level.
  • Experience in representing organizations in committees and industry-related events.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and legal issues in the banking sector, financial services industry, credit management and debt review.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
