Sectional Surveyor (2-year Fixed Term Contract)

Purpose:
The Sectional Surveyor will be mainly responsible for the day-to-day versatile surface and underground mine surveying functions.
Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma in Mine Surveying or a higher suitable qualification.
- Chamber of Mines’ Advance Survey Certificate
- At least 5 years mine surveying of which 2 years underground development survey experience.
- Experience in Bentley CAD MicroStation and Inroads software
- Skilled in operating GPS and understanding GPS principles.
Duties:
- Planning daily tasks, organizing and leading a survey team.
- Quality installation of control pegs, line pegs and grade pegs in an underground block cave, and underground development mine.
- Compiling of survey notes, layouts and sections.
- Topographical surveys of surface features for updating of statutory plans.
- Staking of blasting and drilling blocks in an open pit mine.
- Performing total station, GPS and levelling surveys for any underground or surface mine surveying.
- Month end underground measurements, surface stockpile surveys and volume calculations.
- Actively participate in maintaining SHEQ standards.
- Staking and surveying of exploration boreholes and setting out engineering structures.
- Freeboard surveys, stability monitoring and monitoring systems.
