Purpose

Act as a knowledgeable business partner by providing competent and effective legal, risk and compliance advice and support within procurement. Work closely with all the company's risk groups and lines of business to assess both business needs and risks and assure that procurement contracts are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Provide advice regarding regulatory compliance and legal requirements that pertain to procurement agreements, participate in procurement negotiations, assure that the desired business and legal terms and conditions are captured and contained in the agreement, ensure that the agreements appropriately address the company's risk tolerances, work closely with internal risk, audit and legal partners and internal clients to assure business/regulatory needs are met, and provide legal counsel primarily to procurement strategists.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in law or relevant field (Commerce or Supply chain).
  • At least 8 years banking experience.
  • Strong experience with IT contracting.
  • Contract management/ legal experience.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management would be advantageous.

Key competencies

  • Knowledge of procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of negotiation best practices, both in-person and in written form, that considers cultural norms and the company's best interests.
  • Knowledge of costing and pricing methodology.
  • Excellent knowledge of current and legally binding contractual language and terminology- both Legal and Commercial.
  • Ability to assess contract compliance and product/service quality.
  • In depth understanding of the composition of contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.
