Purpose

The Superintendent Logistics Maintenance will be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to the Logistics Maintenance team. The role is also responsible to ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act requirements. 

Minimum requirements

  • BSc Engineering/National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 
  • Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and works). 
  • Registration with Professional affiliates (ECSA, AMRE).
  • Registration with DMRE as a Mentor.  
  • 5 Years engineering experience in the maintenance field in a heavy engineering environment of which 3 years should have been in a supervisory capacity, preferably in the mining industry.

Main duties

  • Ensuring that the Company's Safety, Health and Environmental Standards are implemented and maintained. 
  • Managing Load and Haul contractors, making sure a contractor is always compliant in terms of MHSA legal requirements. 
  • Maintaining and improve safety, health, environmental standards and practices. 
  • Performing fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment. 
  • Ensuring that Logistics value chain departments develops an interdependent culture of safety ensuring that work complies with existing safety legislation and is in full compliance with the company's standards. 
  • Enforcing safety compliance, by making sure that magnetite loading from ponds, hauling to different stockpiles, loading of trucks and trains operations are working in harmony especial Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) compliance to MHSA regulations. 
  • Implementation and continuous improvement of Reliability Centred Maintenance. 
  • Responsible for logistics capacity and improvements projects including technical studies in line with supply chain and logistics trends and technology. 
  • Achieving Best Practice work culture in maintenance standards and procedures. 
  • Investigating equipment failures and carrying out root cause analyses to improve reliability.
