Sustainability Specialist

Purpose

Develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate sustainable environmental solutions for the business and deliver of the business's sustainability strategy.

Minimum requirements

• A relevant degree.
• 3 years' experience as Sustainability officer.
• Understanding and knowledge of Dow Jones SRI, CDP, JSE SRI and Sustainability integrated reporting (GRI).

Main duties

• Develop and implement a Sustainability strategy within the business; which must include the risks opportunities assessment of the current baseline; targets and action plans and effects to costs and other benefits.
• Assist with the establishment of an exco and grassroots environmental committee and Sustainability Champions in each department or area.
• Co-ordinate meetings, reminders, minutes and agendas for meetings as well as follow-ups and implementation.
• Facilitate timeous input for inclusion in all relevant reports required, ensuring accuracy, creativity and submissions at least 10 days before any external deadlines or as agreed with direct manager. This includes both internal and external reports and surveys that cover Sustainability as a whole.
• Coordinate and facilitate the B-BBEE verification (audit) process and the FSCC Annual Report within the business. 
• General Administration.
• Attend BASA and NBI events and help influence changes in legislation as well as build networks.
• Build relationships within various business units to help implement the Sustainability Strategy.
• Data management.
• Caborn footprint calculation. 
• Manage third party procurement policies, data and standards.
• Training and education.
