Winder Engine Driver

Purpose

The Winding Engine Driver will be responsible to co-ordinate and control the respective winding machines according to shaft demands on shift basis. 

Minimum requirements

• Matric. 
• Winding Engine Driver and Onsetter Certificates. 
• Good understanding of underground mining operations. 
• Minimum of three years’ experience as a Winding Engine Driver. 
• Experience on Koepe winders will be advantageous.

Main duties

• Operating the mine winders and friction winch in the set parameters, in an efficient, cost effective and safe manner. 
• Reporting of all defects on the winders and friction winch to the supervisor and maintenance department as identified during normal operation. 
• Performing basic tasks to ensure operational efficiency. 
• Performing maintenance and housekeeping tasks. 
• Ensuring correct and timely flow of information to the supervisor and maintenance teams. 
• Ensuring compliance to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ). 
• Ensuring compliance to MHSA Chapter 16.
